About Us

Erstwhile Media was founded by French playwright Oliver Giggins during the pandemic, providing entertainment for people stuck at home. Their first shows were for the 2020 online horror festival, with an online talk about mediums who channelled famous dead authors into creating new work, The Literary Medium, and two especially filmed versions of older shows, an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost and the one man play Out of Leftfield.


They returned to the online portion of the Edinburgh Horror Festival the following year with the limited release anthology film Rest In Pieces.
Erstwhile Media then debuted in the Fringe with a remount of Glass Slippers and Silver Bullets (previously in the 2017 Fringe and EHF) which then did a run in that year's Edinburgh Horror Festival. They returned to the EHF thev following year with the horror anthology The Shadow In The Dark (coproduced with Noisy Ghost Entertainment), which adapted 2 shory stories and section of autobiography by Edith Nesbit.
Their love affair with Nesbit continued into the following year with another adaptation of 3 Nesbit pieces, this time as one continuous play, in The Ebony Frame, which premiered in the 2024 EHF, which sold out its entire run. In between they also premiered two other shows in the Edinburgh Fringe,  Ticket To Wonderland and Regina Vagina, which also sold out.


Giggins is also regularly involved with the 24 hour film festival and as well as creating several short films that have been nominated and shortlisted for awards.
